Sustainability

We at Cityrama DMC believe that we can take small steps for sustainable tourism that’s why 8 years ago we launched „green tours” among our guaranteed programs, such as cycling and walking tours in Budapest.

Our goal is that sustainability should be an important and fundamental decision-influencing aspect in tourism and in our lives in general.

There is a need for a change of attitude in service providers so that the movement of tourists can be extended in space and time, furthermore the relationship between locals and tourists can be raised to a common platform. This is our future.

The goal is to create new and sustainable tours to avoid extra pollution of tour buses and wasting time by sitting in the traffic jam. The programms would bring tourists closer to locals by discovering the hidden treasures of the city by public transportation and walking on secret ways. Now we achieved the Travelife engagement stage within the well-known sustainable tourism certification, Travelife society,  and are on the way to become a Travelife partner.

Ctyrama DMC is committed to providing high quality services with paying attention to the environment and sustainability.

Sustainability Policy

Our travel agency is committed to providing high-quality services paying attention to the environment and sustainability. We apply sustainability and environmental protection both at work and at home.

The sustainability guidelines are as follows:

Reducing energy consumption:

The office has huge, light-transmitting, transparent windows, so the use of lighting is minimal in the spring and summer, and the use of lighting in the afternoon is necessary in the autumn and winter. The office uses LED strip lighting and LED lighting, which also reduces energy consumption, as LED lighting is energy-saving.  We turn off the lights when leaving the office or when the other premises are not in use. In the kitchen area, we use a light intensity control switch.

The heating is zero in spring and summer, and the temperature is around 20-21 degrees in autumn and winter. The heating is done by underfloor heating and electric panels. Instead of using the air conditioner in the summer, permanent ventilation is the solution. Ventilation is also necessary during the cold season due to the exchange of used air, but during this period it takes place twice a day with a minimum of time.

Water use:

The company’s members reduce the number of plastic bottles they use, instead refillable metal water bottles and glass cups are used. When using water correctly, it is important not to waste the amount of water unnecessarily. Hands are washed in cold water in summer and lukewarm water in winter. When washing hands, turn off the tap while the soaping takes place so that the water is not used unnecessarily.Drinking water is supplied centrally, so there is usually no need to buy mineral water.  A minimum amount of water is used for cleaning. The amount of water used for flushing the toilet can be regulated.

Garbage storage and sorting:

The selective collection of waste is essential, and we pay particular attention to it. We store plastic, paper waste, municipal waste and organic waste in the form of compost in a separate box. our selective waste collection bins are easy-to-clean plastic. The elements are stored separately in a separate box. As for the use of paper, the printed papers that are incorrectly printed during printing are cut up and used as note paper, thus reducing the further use of paper and the amount of paper waste to be thrown away.

Promotion of sustainable tourism:

As part of the SustainTour, it is possible to discover Budapest in a sustainable way. The aim of the program is to avoid the pollution of mass tourism and tour buses, and to experience the life of the locals and Budapest residents. During the tour, a professional guide will take the group around. The special feature of the tour is the tasting of this local healing water, as well as the use of a unique 4-wheel-bike which reduces environmental pollution and CO2 emissions to 0. At the end of the tour, you can taste typical Hungarian dish at the Market Hall.

Promote destinations:

When choosing a destination, an important aspect is the proximity and preservation of nature. We choose a destination based on several criteria. We decide primarily on the basis of geographical location, and then we examine the attractiveness and attraction. Examining the relationship between tourism and the environment, we must create a balance between needs. In addition to the needs of tourists, it is important to meet the needs of local residents and protect the local environment. We must reduce the negative factors of tourism on the environment: CO2 emissions, places and factors that disappear due to mass tourism, while increasing the positive effects: increasing the quality of life of locals, increasing the number of jobs, gathering unique experiences. In several of our destinations, closeness to nature plays an important role, for example Szentendre: the Danube coast, and Esztergom and Visegrád are part of the Danube – Ipoly National Park, which is one of the richest national parks with wildlife in Hungary. Furthermore, the pursuit of sustainability is also an important aspect of Budapest tours, with the maintenance of local food, medicinal water sources, pedestrian and bicycle transport.
